Pack Tegu Travel Pals Tugboat and Spaceship sets so they stay together and ready to play. Follow these steps for stress-free travel with magnetic wooden blocks.

Quick answer

Pack each Tegu Travel Pals set in its own small pouch or container, keep the six pieces together, and place it in an easy-to-reach spot in your carry-on or car bag. This keeps the magnetic wooden blocks for travel contained and ready for play.

Why small-piece containment matters more than the bag you choose

Travel Pals sets contain six blocks in two shapes: four triangular prisms and two parallelograms. Because the pieces are small and magnetic, they can cling to other metal items in a bag or scatter if the container opens. A dedicated pouch or small box prevents loss and keeps the set complete for building.

You do not need a special travel case. A zippered pencil pouch, a small drawstring bag, or a lidded container works as long as it closes securely. The goal is to keep the six pieces together and easy to retrieve.

When to choose Tugboat or Spaceship for a trip

Both Travel Pals sets include the same block shapes and piece count, so the choice comes down to your child’s interest. The Tugboat and Spaceship themes offer different starting points for pretend play, but the building possibilities are similar because the pieces are compatible with all other Tegu Magnetic Wooden Blocks.

If you are packing for more than one child, bring both sets so siblings can build together or trade pieces. The magnets connect across sets, which extends play without adding bulk.

Steps to pack magnetic blocks for travel

Count the pieces before packing: Confirm you have all six blocks (four triangular prisms and two parallelograms) for each Travel Pals set. A quick count prevents a missing piece from ruining play later. Do the count at home, not at the airport.
Choose a small, secure container: Use a zippered pouch, a small drawstring bag, or a lidded box that closes firmly. Avoid open bins or thin plastic bags that can tear. The container should be just big enough to hold the six pieces without excess space. Test the closure by shaking the container gently; if pieces shift or the lid opens, choose a different container.
Keep each set separate: If you are bringing both Tugboat and Spaceship sets, pack each in its own container. This makes it easy to hand one set to a child and keeps pieces organized. Label containers with the set name if you have multiple children.
Place the container in an accessible pocket: Put the pouch in a carry-on pocket, backpack side pocket, or car seat-back organizer where an adult can reach it without unpacking everything. Avoid burying it under luggage. Keep one set within arm’s reach for delays and restaurant waits.
Do a quick check after each play session: Before moving to the next activity, count the pieces back into the container. This habit prevents loss in cars, planes, and restaurants. Make the count part of the cleanup routine.
