Compare the 6 Travel Pal Bundle and 4 Travel Pal Bundle on piece count, character variety, and price to decide which magnetic blocks travel set fits your family.
Quick answer
Choose the 6 Travel Pal Bundle if you want the widest character variety for siblings or frequent travel; choose the 4 Travel Pal Bundle if you need a lighter, lower-cost set for one child or occasional outings.
What you get in each bundle
Both bundles contain Travel Pals that each include 6 blocks in 2 shapes: 4 triangular prisms and 2 parallelograms. The difference is the number of characters: the 6 Travel Pal Bundle includes Kitty, Spaceship, Jetplane, Whale, Tugboat, and Hummingbird, while the 4 Travel Pal Bundle includes Spaceship, Jetplane, Tugboat, and Hummingbird.
That means the 4-piece set covers four of the six characters but omits Kitty and Whale. If your child specifically loves cats or whales, the larger bundle is the only way to get those pals in this comparison.
The trade-off: variety vs. simplicity and cost
The 6 Travel Pal Bundle gives you two more characters and twice the block count (36 blocks vs. 24 blocks), which can support more simultaneous play or longer building sessions. The trade-off is a higher catalog price (USD 84.00 vs. USD 56.00) and a larger set to keep track of.
The 4 Travel Pal Bundle costs less and takes up less space, making it easier to pack and less likely to overwhelm a single child. However, it offers fewer characters, so two children may have to share or wait turns.
Compatibility and expansion
All Travel Pals in both bundles are fully compatible with all other Tegu Magnetic Wooden Blocks. That means you can add the 4 Travel Pal Bundle to an existing Tegu collection or start with the 6 Travel Pal Bundle and later expand with other sets. Neither bundle includes extra blocks beyond the 6 blocks per pal, so the total block count is directly tied to the number of pals.
Key trade-offs at a glance
- Number of characters: The 6 Travel Pal Bundle includes two more characters (Kitty and Whale) than the 4 Travel Pal Bundle. More characters mean more variety but also more pieces to store and track. If your child has a strong preference for cats or whales, the 6-piece set is the only option that includes them.
- Total block count: Each pal contains 6 blocks, so the 6 Travel Pal Bundle has 36 blocks and the 4 Travel Pal Bundle has 24 blocks. More blocks can support more complex builds or more children playing at once. For two or more children playing together, the 6-piece set reduces waiting and sharing conflicts.
- Price and value: The 6 Travel Pal Bundle is catalog-priced at USD 84.00, and the 4 Travel Pal Bundle is USD 56.00. The larger bundle costs more upfront but provides 50% more characters and blocks. If budget is the primary concern, the 4-piece set delivers the core travel play experience at a lower cost.
- Portability and storage: The 4 Travel Pal Bundle is smaller and lighter, making it easier to slip into a bag for a single child. The 6 Travel Pal Bundle takes up more space but keeps more options on hand for longer trips or multiple children. For quick errands or a single child, the 4-piece set is simpler to pack; for full-family travel, the 6-piece set saves you from leaving favorites behind.
